OH MAN. So first and foremost…the people who work here are absolutely amazing. They are so warm and friendly, my husband and I felt right at home! And of course…the ice cream was AMAZING. I got peanut butter and my husband got banana. It was SO good!! We both ordered a small and when we saw it we genuinely did not think we would finish. WRONG. Delicious!! Will definitely be back.

Soooooo delicious and the staff are amazing!!!! I cannot remember the name of the young gentleman who served us the last time we were there (so sorry bc I asked) and he was very excited to tell us the nitrogen process and answer all of our questions that he probably gets asks constantly. Great ice cream and great service. They explain everything they do and also let you make a personalized ice cream from scratch. The prices are decent as well. Would definitely recommend for people of all ages.

First off, the ice cream was absolutely delicious. I cant wait to go back. What made everything over the top though was the friendly staff. Everyone was hustling and working hard and very nice and friendly. They helped us creating our orders and even gave us information on how things are made there.

Went here a couple of Fridays ago, and wow: what great customer service! The people there couldnt have been friendlier, and someone was even explaining the (rather complex) menu to people who were new.As far as the ice cream goes, I really like the strong variety of options available. My friends got normal ice cream, but being on a fitness regimen, I got the yogurt with one of their signature desserts instead of ice cream without any hangups. The total caloric content probably worked out to like 300-400 calories, with much more protein and much less fat & sugar than the ice cream.On another important note, I really like that there isnt a huge line most nights. Theres always a bit of a line (people are always busy), but Im not waiting 30-40 minutes just to say I went to Millies to signal on social media or something like that. I just want good ice cream or yogurt, and Sub Zeros Shadyside location delivers that in spades. Plus, the prices are very reasonable, given the large portions we can expect!

This place is fantastic and Connor is a F@ck1ng amazing employee, he doled out information to the guests in line chirping replies to their questions cheerfully. (All the employees I have dealt with here are great he just stood out). The Icecream is great, it’s something new and frankly I enjoy it being made while I watch. Millies and milkshake factory are nice and all, but subzero does something special. 5stars

This place is such an experience. Love that youre able to customize your order and watch them make it. Its also great that you can get vegan, lactose free, low fat or regular ice cream.This location is one of the best the sales associates are soooo friendly.I recommend this place 🍦 😋

The Ice cream is made fresh. Like to try the different creations officers while also creating my own. Love the Banana Cream Pie flavor as well as vanilla with cherries. The customer Service is absolutely the best. The attention to customer service is greatly appreciated.

A simple stop after going to the park with our daughter. Great service from the staff and overall great experience from them making my girlfriends ice cream and making my milkshake. The selection is also big for the amount of stuff you can add to your treats. I like the card that you get to be able to chose exactly what you would like it’s a big help also when having children with you to occupy them. Would recommend to anyone

Visiting from out of town and out for a walk, I stumbled upon this place. Service was warm and friendly, and explained the whole experience and process. The worst part is having to decide between all of the flavors, mixins and toppings. I settled on coffee heath with butterscotch. The show in making the treat was fun to watch, and the local neighborhood ambiance completed the package. Definitely give this place a try.

Besides the delicious ice cream, my experience was divine because of charismatic employee Conor Joyce. This High School baseball superstar not only rakes at the baseball plate but also at the milkshake plate. He even let me get a free autograph for when he goes pro.

You might call me an aficionado (I keep an ice cream tastings journal).Sub Zero earned a rare 5 🍨 rating for their delicious ice cream, the high level of customizations (way beyond simple toppings!!), their novel concept, and their friendly, flexible staff.When we arrived, we were immediately informed that their card reader was down and we would have to pay in cash or agree to have our card info written down to be run at a later time/date. We chose to pay cash.We proceeded to order by filling out their reusable order cards. There were so many choices! You can choose old school ice cream, frozen yogurt, frozen custard, some vegan ice cream wannabe, sorbet... Im cant begin to remember every option, so Ill just stick to what I ordered. I chose the old school ice cream, it being my favorite, and picked flavors reminiscent of a Mexican Mocha: chocolate, cinnamon, and coffee. I then chose chocolate shavings and Graham cracker crumbs from an extensive list of add-ins. I forgot to mark down that I wanted whipped cream on top, but the servers were happy to add it at the end. I ordered a small, since wed just finished dinner.Once all that was done, Bridget and Lacey made my ice cream right in front of me! Much to my delight, it did taste just like a Mexican Mocha and made the perfect after-dinner treat. The small was about 4 scoops anywhere else and I couldnt finish it despite my best effort. It was delicious!If the owner of this establishment ever wants to branch out or franchise, I have to lobby for Eugene, Oregon (and wider doors, because Ill need them if this comes to my town!). Its a cool (yeah) place where they make the ice cream as you watch. Unfortunately its made from artificial flavors and not that good. Also expensive. And it takes a long time before you get the ice cream and they dont have a nice seating. But you can choose to get your ice almost anyway you want.

Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Got it delivered on Grubhub and it kept cold, not melted at all with a 15-20 minute commute. Loved it!

The staff are very kind and explain things thoroughly. The process is really interesting and makes the ice cream more creamy and delicious. I also recommend bringing kids here! They will freak over the vapor and think it is magic haha. And also to learn about the liquid nitrogen.

I tried this place out for the first time after walking past it for a while, and the ice cream was really good. We always go to Sub Zero in Shadyside when we want the BEST ice cream available. We have taken family and friends there and have always been treated like the only customers in the store, no matter how busy they were. You can ask for any kind of ice cream combos and they can do it….remarkable. Give yourself a treat and visit them soon.

I used to eat Millies all the time, but I tried subzero yesterday and I like it a lot more than Millies. They allow you to create your own ice cream with multiple flavors and mix ins. Also, they make the fresh ice cream right in front of you. The whole experience is very good overall and I would recommend you try it.

The strength of this place is the fact that (duh) they make your ice cream from scratch with liquid nitrogen. This results in the creamiest, freshest, ice crystal free ice cream youve probably ever had. The process also enables incredible customization for your ice cream, from what type of cream base you use to the flavors of the cream to the mix-ins themselves.Unfortunately, their flavors are a bit hit-or-miss in quality, and their mix-ins are generally generic grocery store items (i.e., not particularly high quality and certainly not homemade).Still, that second paragraph disclaimer doesnt really detract from the overall experience, because the ice cream quality itself is outstanding.

My husband got the peanut butter bonds sensation and it was delicious! It was mixed with Reeses, brownie bites, and peanut butter then topped with hot fudge. We would get this again!!I got a fruit smoothie! Its nice because you have the option of having them make a more natural fruit smoothie or making it sweeter, you just have to let them know.

Ive been there twice now and will be going again! The options are endless and I want to try everything!! Service is great, the place is clean, and the owner is such a sweetheart!

Outstanding Experience!

Definitely the best ice cream in Shadyside, it blows Millies out of the water! Its a fun experience watching The science happen and feeling the cool nitrogen blowing at you during the process. On top of that the ice cream is super creamy after a few minutes of well.. warming up? Blowing out nitrogen like a dragon is another experience worth trying.Great experience, fun environment, tons of options and its absolutely delicious!

This place is pretty amazing in terms of the quality of the product and the sheer variety of options you can select from. The have something for everyone here and you could spend an hour just trying to decide what to order.I went with straight custard with cinnamon and it was excellent. Even though they are making each batch by hand the service was still pretty fast and the end result not only tasted good but it had an extremely smooth mouth feel which I enjoyed.The staff was very friendly and guided us through as it was my families first time. Prices are fair for a hand crafted product and they are opened late which is great for days like today where he sun sets at 8:54pmWe will definitely repeat

Ice cream made how you want with a copious amount of flavorings and toppings to make wild combinations with. Its a really great experience watching how they make the ice cream, using liquid nitrogen to freeze the cream and flavorings. Its worth if not just to watch them make it. With friendly service too. I highly recommend trying it out.

This place is awesome. Just went for the first time and if you like ice cream this place is entirely decadent in the best way.I had the brulee(the number 3) and my girlfriend did a custom order. I got a large which was huuuuuuuge. But it was so good 90% of it was in my tummy by the time we made it home (which is like a 2 mile drive).The owner talked to us and was super nice and told us a lot about her shop. This was the perfect nightcap to a nice dinner.Definitely coming back.

My favorite place to go rather if its with my Kids or my Mom or date night with my husband. The 2 Ladies that own it are always there if not both of them they are hands on with training. It Great to watch the nitro turn the cream into ice cream. But the best part is you can create or concoct any flavor imaginable. You get more than great conversation for the 2 minutes you be in line. EXCEPTIONAL

Stopped in yesterday. Very friendly service and the ice cream was delicious! So creamy! I had some banana ice cream with cheesecake bites in it. Best ice cream I’ve ever had. My son had a pineapple milkshake. It was also very delicious. I love how the sky is the limit as far as making your own special ice cream concoction!😋 Can’t wait to try something new next time.

Pretty good ice cream shop. You get a lot of options to customize your ice cream and then its made on-site with the liquid nitrogen. The end result was very tasty and creamy and pricing seemed appropriate for the portion sizes.My only complaint was the wait time was pretty long for the ice cream. Although it may have been longer due to the shop only recently opening and a person in front of us had a very large order. We will have to give it another shot to see if wait times are better.

My girlfriend has lots of food allergies, and besides offering many allergy-friendly alternatives, they went out of their way to accommodate her and make sure both of us were happy! Will be returning quite frequently and highly recommend!

Loved the texture of the ice cream. We could choose as many flavors to mix as we wanted.They even offered to redo the ice cream if we didnt like the flavors we chose. (But we did like the flavors!) Really friendly staff.(Their menu also has an optional treat for your doggo 🐶)
