I stopped by for the first time and oh boy, first off, the owner was incredibly sweet and helpful. Secondly, so many books! Granted, I only walked away with one for myself, but that’s because I just didn’t have time to look at everything and will have to go back once I do because you could definitely browse around for hours. This place was an awesome find.

Youd never expect to find such a beautiful book store in such a random place in Portsmouth. Its tucked away between a few other stores and it might seem like a small book store but that wouldnt be the case. Im not sure you can see a single wall in this place! The books are all over the place and surprisingly well organized for the sheer amount of them. Its very quiet despite the busy road outside so it truly makes you want to take your time and see just what this book store has to offer. This place truly pays a tribute to family owned book stores everywhere and reminds us that we dont always need to visit Barnes and Nobles to buy every book brand new at a crazy price.

First time visiting. Looked for two specific series and found quite a few of both plus new reads. Found World of Warcraft art books/strategy guides among other books. My 3 year old daughter also had a fun time picking out a few too! Bought a mask and a ring too! Very nice place, will definitely come back when I have a bigger chunk of time. Jeannie was so sweet as well. She knows and loves her books.

We stopped by on a whim looking for a specific used book. While they didnt have it (no fault of the store, its just a hard book to find used) the staff was incredibly helpful and kind in looking for it. We ended up getting a whole stack of books because they have so many different genres and categories available. Store is organized by genre/author name quite well. Very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, store owner was absolutely lovely. 10/10 would shop there again. Definitely one of the best used book stores Ive been to.

I recently have been stationed here and decided to do some exploring around Portsmouth Virginia. I’m so glad I visited this book store. I can already tell I’ll be visiting often. She’s such a sweet lady and such a big help when you need a book to read. I really love this place.

Great place to shop for used books. Condition of books and prices were excellent. Place is a bit of a maze so plan to spend some time there to enjoy your visit. Owner was pleasant and fun to talk with.

Jeannies Used Books is the most AMAZING book store Ive ever been in. It has books from floor to ceiling throughout many large rooms. It feels magical, they have a large variety of books, and the owner and employees are very kind and helpful! I highly recommend supporting this awesome small local business ☺️

I hadnt been to Jeannies in a while but stopped in with some Nancy Drew books my granddaughter did not want to read and left with 10 new exciting books. She is a great lady and loves to visit with her customers. You can go in Jeannies sit on the floor and browse for hours and feel at home. I refer to her all the time. Thanks Jeannie.

I like supporting small businesses especially for folk as kind as Jeannie. That was my first time there and she welcomed all her guests. The bookstore has A LOT of books to choose from.

This is a GREAT place if you love books and love to poke around and investigate in places such as old attics. I like my kindle but theres something about having a book in my hand that I enjoy more. And since its a thrift place, its so much cheaper than a new book store. I can easily walk out of Barnes and Nobles being broke but at Jeannies I can pretty much pick up whatever I want. And shes very friendly and accommodating if you need help.

I liked it. It was definitely an independant used book store. The books were alphabetized by author and arranged by genre like most book stores but they werent stacked uniformly, they were stacked laterally and horizontally. Which kind of added to the stores appeal.There are tons of books and nifty gift items! Mainly older used books, but I still found what I was looking for! The prices are great too! Its worth dropping in and looking around. I would recommended it for building your childrens library. You can walk away with a slew of educational material for a great price.

Jeannies has all the hallmarks of a great bookstore. Sorted well by category, but not *too* well. The aisles are full of great books, and in looking for one you may find more youre interested in!The prices are great and the books are in good shape.Well worth the visit!

My mother in law is visiting from Florida and decided to extend her stay and in doing so she needed to find a few more books to read while here. So we ended up here and were very pleasantly surprised at the selection of books in this store. Will definitely be returning!!

Walked in here on a whim one day and what a wonderful decision! The woman behind the counter was super kind and helpful; not sure if she was the owner, but shes doing a wonderful job.The place may look messy and unorganized, but once you start walking around and discovering different sections its easy to find what your looking forward and move from section to section with ease.Prices are very very fair, and all the books I investigated were in great shape.I will definitely be returning here in the future and suggest every book worm do themselves a favor and check this place out!

This is the best store ever!!!!! My friend took there as a surprise and she basically had to drag me out because I never wanted to leave! This is store is an oasis for all book lovers alike! They had so many wonderful titles and authors to chose from, they had books for all genres including for those in school. Furthermore its beyond refreshing to have such amazing customer service from the moment you walk in. There was a couple of books that I was specifically looking for and I was having trouble locating them; the store clerk immediately offered her service and we found it in no time. This is the greatest used book store I have ever set foot in. There are so many books, there is a back room, the books are stacked behind eachother, and they are very reasonably priced. There are even really old first edition books in there. The owner knows where everything is, which books she has, and she has everything you can imagine. Its a book lovers paradise.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Jeannie is an amazing woman. My Bug just loves visiting her and running around the store. He can be a handful and a bit fussy, but she doesnt seem to mind. I love the floor to ceiling shelves, the many books in the shelves, and every little corner. You will find books you never knew existed and find old loves youve always meant to buy. Im constantly bringing over books and use up my credit the same day. Which reminds me, I need to get on with that. I only wish that I could devote most of my home to all of the books Jeannie has.

Jeanie has a wide selection if books from almost every author in the writing world. I would reccomend others to go here to buy well known authors like Stephen King and Dean Koontz.
