The CON JOB started with a price of $265, in writing for a service. Later I was called by Matt and told it would be $450!!! I took it to a Jeep Dealer and had the same service done for $300!! That is price gouging! DONT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE, ITS A RIP OFF!!!

We called to make an appointment for a Smog test; Very friendly, on time, efficient, and fair price. **Make your appointment in advance, it is challenging to try to get a same day service. If you schedule about 4-7 days out, you should have no problem with getting an appointment. I would come back again.

Live here in south lake, Been to them 3 times, never again.1 Too busy to care about your car, wouldnt trust them to be thorough. Communication and timeliness arent there either.2 Prices really arent good 120/hr, including problem diagnosis3 they will report any little & unrelated damage to your car to you car fax. See note belowI brought my car in for a check up, unrelated to a dented body panel, (i was planning to replace), and and how great that they reported damage to the vehicle on my car fax. Mind your business, and just do your job.

Very nice people. My windshield wiper stopped working during a blizzard in January 2021. I called them and asked for help as I couldnt drive/see without it. They told me that they are all booked up, but its a quick fix. They said to come by and they will fix it in the parking lot. They did so and didnt charge me either. I will definitely go back there.

Our 18 year old daughter accidentally put Diesel into her gas tank and then drove, the car was not happy. We called at 4:30 on Friday and had a great conversation about what the next steps are. After being towed from Placerville to the shop late friday night, first thing Monday morning they had called and setup getting the car fixed and our daughter back on the road. I love this auto shop! Its difficult to find an honest mechanic sometimes and they dont mess around when it comes to making sure theyre clients are taken care of. Had a smog on my S.U.V. The people there were polite, professional, and down to earth. I was in and out in under an hour.

Some mechanics may be faster. Some may be cheaper. Id rather wait a day or two and pay a little more for the kind of service these guys provide. Theyre always honest as hell with what they are going to do. Quotes are never inaccurate. All in all its by far the best shop in town.

I have been using them for many years. They changed ownership but still maintain an honest, fair price, hard working level of service. Many times they have saved me money and had the bill lower than expected when I picked up the car.

I want to warn every Tahoe local to avoid doing business with this Auto Repair company. Their work is poor and the warranty partner NAPA is highly unethical. Christensen replaced my Jeeps radiator, temperature gauge and hoses etc... 8 months ago and after very little usage the temp gauge they installed failed (the mechanic said it was faulty) on the highway. The radiator blew and engine overheated due to a lack of coolant causing the seals in the manifold / engine damage oil leaks everywhere...Thousands of dollars of damage. This company NAPA and its partners are unethical and I caution all locals to avoid this repair shop until they find a warranty company that backs the products and work that is done and the clear damage that is done to a vehicle when their work is sub par and parts used are faulty. Their shoddy work and poor products destroyed my vehicle and in times like these I would hate for any hard working people in Tahoe that depend on their cars for their jobs and family to have to go thru this horrible and very very expensive experience.

Great service. I am having a vacation with family in south Lake Tahoe. I noticed that my brake had some kind of funny noise yesterday. I called the Christensen automotive and the manager Shane asked me to go in half an hour so that he can arrange a check up. Before I called him, another place asked me to wait 3 hours before they can make an appointment with me. I felt very lucky that I called Christensen instead. Shane is a very professional man and asked me wait for a few minutes. They started work on my car after I waited 5 minutes. His staff John took an hour check my car for not just brake checking but also everything else. John said he didnt find any problem with brake but just want to make sure I will drive safely back to home. Shane didnt charge me any money and let me go as he said my car had no problem. I was really surprised as other places asking for at least 50 dollars just for check up. The service in this place is great, They are very honest and professional. I highly recommended you go here to do your car service.

I just went in to Christensens to have my water pump checked out on my Tundra. I suspected it may have a leak using a mirror, because there was no leak evidence in my driveway. Thier mechanic confirmed I do have a leak, Jerry and Nick got me in right away and basically got it fixed the first day, took it for a test drive the next morning and I was out the door. They were fair on the price, very quick getting me back on the road and treated me and my family awesome once again. Thanks for being straight shooters and your mechanic Big John is one of the finest around!!!!

Thanks Jerry and Nick. My wife and kids had transmission trouble while on vacation. I wasnt able to be with them because of my work schedule. Jerry and Nick were very helpful with checking the oil level and topping it off for her. In the end the car needed to go to the dealer for warranty. But just to be able to trust that my family was getting the help they needed is a huge deal for me and I really appreciate companies with that kind of integrity. This place is a joke, NOT TRUSTWORTHY AT ALL! Took my car in and everything seemed cool. Took him 6 hours to plug in the computer to tell me he needed to take apart the whole engine to discover the issue (no issue after all) and it was going to be another $500 just for diagnosis, on top of the 95 just to plug the OCB in, which is free to use right next door at auto zone. Took the car to another mechanic, charged me nothing and the codes got cleared. Car is running like it used it. Simple computer glitch and these crooks wanted 500 just to find out more work that didnt need to be done. Wouldnt trust these mechanics with my lawnmower, let alone my wallet based on this experience. Horrible experience and I will not be returning. Tried to hustle me for a few grand! Still charged me 95 for maybe 5 min of work just so he can call back to be vague with a laundry list of things that could be wrong but needed 2 days of labor to diagnose. Go elsewhere that is more trustworthy.

They are a ripoff and unprofessional. I called about a question on the diagnostics they performed on my car and they guy on the phone got an attitude because I took my business elsewhere. They quoted me over $600 worth of repairs. I got a second opinion got it done for $160. And didnt even need 4 parts they said I needed. Dont ever go there!I only gave 1 star because I am unable to give 0 stars!!

I work as a mechanic but Im on vacation and needed some help. I went into this shop to try to get a few answers and some advice on a problem I was having with my vehicle. from the moment I walked in the door all I got was a glance and a how can I help you and he immediately started looking at his computer screen again. I began to explain the problem to him and he interrupted me and said he wouldnt be able to look at it until Wednesday. I introduce myself as a mechanic and he rattled off for or five things that it definitely was not with the cooling system. It was clear to me at that point that he wasnt listening to my explanation because my problem had nothing to do with the cooling system. This guy is incompetent and doesnt know anything or he wasnt listening.By this time I felt quite frustrated. I dont know why the service writers dont understand just how helpless we are as customers and how we fell out of control and a little scared. Their reaction to us can make us feel a lot better to Simply know we have a friend and somebody looking out for us.I will tell you that the fellow was explaining the proper things if a vehicles cooling system was overheated so I dont think hes dumb. When I told him the problem again he interrupted me again and didnt let me explain and told me he understood and then started rattling off several other problems with electrical system. You see being a mechanic I understand that it could be one of 10 different things. I was hoping he would care enough to talk to one of his mechanics and see if theyve ever heard of this problem before. Maybe I was asking too much for common courtesy. I ended up leaving there with zero help and a bad taste in my mouth about the shop. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision.

These guys are awesome. As a life-long gear head (who worked in a foreign car repair shop back in the day) I have high expectations when I visit a shop and these guys consistently exceed my expectations.

My VW Touareg wouldnt start while I was in South Lake Tahoe after a really cold night. I had it towed to Christensen and they put it inside over night because the computer reported a lot of fuel errors. Turns out the Diesel fuel gelled, so they put in an additive. Everything worked fine the next day. I really appreciated the quick thinking and work to help me out on with their full scheduled as best they could. Very professional and going above and beyond to determine what was wrong as fast as they could. Very caring service and they ask the right questions.

Just to look at the car they charged $300 and when I finally picked up my car on Friday I couldnt shift into park. And because they werent open on weekends I had to wait two days to fix their mistake, which by then I had to return to college. Would not recommend, was not happy with my experience with them

Im a mechanic from So. Oregon,I had a problem on my 02 GMC. I found these guys to be very knowledgeable and helpful. I felt comfortable with them and would recommend them. John the manager will take care of you up front, and John the tech will diagnose it right and fix it for you.

Im from out of town and of course my engine light came on. I found this shop and Jerry fixed me right up. I trust these people.

The slimey salesperson up front might seem like a nice guy, but he is really just there to make sure you feel alright after they screw you over. Definitely overcharge for what they do here. Oil change deal is alright but they have misdiagnosed issues on my car and attempted to get me to repair them there. Issue 1: steering fluid leak, I topped off my steering fluid and there has been no noticeable decrease in 3 months.Issue 2: oil/ coolant leak, I had replaced my radiator about two weeks prior to my visit and some coolant which had leaked out during the original radiator bust was diagnosed as a potential leak that would require a $120 diagnostic.Also, my girlfriends car was brought in for a $120 diagnostic when all it took was a multimeter to confirm the alternator was gone. Seriously?! $120 to use a multimeter, thats cool.
