The doctor was repeatedly condescending about the fact that I purchased my hearing aids from an audiologist in the small town where I grew up. After sending my hearing aids out for repair, I was not informed that they couldn’t verify that they were reprogrammed correctly, since this audiologist does not have a charger in-house. Finally, the doctor tried to adjust my hearing aid in-ear hooks without actually putting them in my ears. Also, after visiting, my name and address wound up on a mailing list for a retirement home – I am 33. Bad experience overall with poor data security.

I had an opportunity to meet with Shawn Bryar about my tinnitus. While there is no cure or real treatment he took the time to discuss the mechanics of it and answer all my questions. He was kind, caring and knowledgeable and gave me some great ideas to manage my tinnitus. The staff was also very pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend the Arlington Hearing Center.

If you have any concerns about your hearing, please DO go see Sandra Romano. Shes terrific.When I saw her, I had a so-called cross-over aid for my right ear that just transmitted sound to my left ear. Confusing? Very. And worse than useless.Having tested my hearing, she said that was all wrong. While my right ear was my worst, I did have some hearing -- so I should have independent aids for BOTH ears. I was willing to be persuaded.On first trying them, I complained about all the static coming from my right ear. She took me into a soundproof booth -- Do you hear it now? No. Thats what you are hearing from your right ear.I had to get used to it. That incredible loud ticking noise in the car on the way home? Oh, the turn indicator.After a multi-year lapse, I resumed my French lessons! I can hear again! Makes a world of difference in sorting out French vowel sounds!Losing hearing is tough on marriages and relationships, can lead to increased social isolation, and even increased risk of dementia. Dont miss out. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and go see her. (P.S. Sandra herself has some loss of hearing. She gets it. She really does.)

I have worn hearing aids for about 20 years.I found Dr. Sandra Romano after I relocated to this area.Best. Audiologist. Ever.She wears the same hearing aids that I recently purchased so she knows, personally and professionally, the answers to all my questions. I appreciated the patience of the staff at the Hearing Center. I required hearing aids and made follow up visits until the settings were perfect. Also, adjustments were explained thoroughly and I was able to practice with some of the features on my equipment so that I could adjust the aids for different settings. My hearing loss is moderate, but the constant need to adjust TV volumes and to ask my spouse and others to repeat things just disappeared when Dr. Romano fitted me with hearing aids two years ago. I still miss words of some songs and some accents, but the ease of use and the quality of todays hearing aids are amazing. Dr Romano and her staff have always been great audiologists to me. Ive used hearing aides since 5 years old. I found her in late 2011/early 2012 after I was using a place in Reston and getting overcharged to my insurance too much by them. She recommended/sold a new pair of hearing aides that are wire-kind instead of the old tube/ear mold kind and I have been happier with hearing aides until I got these.. She also recommended/sold a wireless system that works with my iPhone so I could listen to music and make phone calls on that has made my life easier with a physical and hearing disability... Worked with my insurance to cover the amount for aides they would cover., The location is key too because of easy access to metro..

I have been a patient of the Arlington Hearing Center since 1970 at 5 years old. During that time the Center has had 3 management/owner changes. I continue to go (now Sonus Arlington) because of Dr. Romano and her staff. They are knowledgeable, responsive, service/customer-focused, and creative in their service. I travel from Ashburn due to the service I do not receive elsewhere.

I am severely deaf and using a sign language to communicate. My speech is not always fluent and clear. I am wearing a hearing aid on my left ear, and a cochlear implant on the right. I have been attending many different audiology centers in my whole life, even in a few different states. I have to say this one is the best I have ever obtained the service. I feel many audiologists dont really understand the struggles of my deafness and a deaf culture, all they do is focus on Audism rather than understanding the difficulties Deaf people face on a daily basis. The audiologist, Dr. Romano is a first audiologist I met that knows the sign language, we communicate very well. She made sure that I understand everything and listened my concerns very carefully. Plus, she is a fast responder! I would give her 100 stars.

Good customer services!! They did not provide the services for my daughter, but they helped me out to find another facility. I really appreciated it the time to help us out, because it was a nightmare trying to find another facility for a toddler hearing test.

This is a great facility. I recently had some ear impressions made for custom in ear monitors for my music. One pair of the custom in ear monitors was from Westone which I ordered direct from Sonus. After using them a for a brief period the right ear monitor started hurting my ear. Not a problem, Dr Romano worked directly with Westone to make sure they understood the issue and fixed the ear piece correctly -- they ended up doing a remake of the earpiece.I couldnt be happier with Sonus. This facility in particular is well organized, managed extremely with and staffed with a courteous and knowledgeable team. You cant go wrong at this location.JP

I am unhappy with the payment process that I paid in full amount for the service. I was advised that I am out of network but can claim back my 80% payment with my insurance. The provider and my insurance throw the ball back and forth. Lastly, I am responsible for the full amount.

Ive used hearing aids to treat my severe hearing loss since I was three years old, and Im now 36...so Ive worked with many, many audiologists and hearing aid companies over the years.Dr. Romano and her staff are among the top hearing care professionals Ive ever worked with. They are friendly and helpful, and Sandra really knows her stuff. The office space is up-to-date (no wood paneling here) and conveniently located.Now that hearing aids have become so technologically sophisticated, its VERY important that the hearing aid fitter/audiologist is tech savvy. Ive worked with other audiologists who have sold me expensive digital hearing aids but havent been able to successfully program them. Its very annoying to watch an audiologist fumble with the technology that youre going to rely on all day, every day for the next 4-5 years. Dr. Romano is confident with the technology and was able to understand my feedback and adjust the aids digital programming accordingly.This is a little thing, but it has always really annoyed me when audiologists or their staff talk in an exaggerated, slow, loud voice to me as if Im mentally disabled as well as hard of hearing. None of that here...theyll treat you with respect.A note on pricing and insurance reimbursement -- I was referred to this office by my health insurance company and, lucky for me, the insurance company picked up most of the cost of the hearing aids. If you have never purchased hearing aids, you will be shocked by the cost. This is not a reflection on Sonus -- you will see these high prices at any professional audiologist.To make hearing aids worth it, you must fully commit to using them all day, every day...this may require multiple return visits to the audiologist to adjust the hearing aid digital programs until everything sounds right to you. Hearing aids wont fix everything, but they make a world of difference when they are fitted correctly to your particular situation. In other words...you get what you pay for. If you go for discount warehouse aids, you wont get the performance youll get from the high-end products. In some situations, discount aids might be fine. Do your research and see if your health insurance plan will pick up some of the cost.

I suffer from an extreme hearing deficiency due to bilateral acoustic neuromas. Dr. Romano performed an audiogram and recalibrate by Phonak BTE hearing aid that I have had for almost a decade.And the results were fantastic.She took extreme patience during the recalibration as this is both science and art. And my deficient hearing was restored to a working level, whereas before I heard back feedback and unintelligible voice.Five stars, Highly recommended from one that has had extensive experience with failed audiologists.

My father has been a patient of Dr Romano for 10+ year. Called the office and no response therefore decided to stop by the office with my father hearing aids. Office receptionist stated that we needed an appointment to have my father hearing aid check. She seem like she do not want to help or deal with my father needs. Went to another office near by where it was a simple fix and no need of appointment.
