Had a great experience buying my 3 series wagon. Car was exactly how Jason described it. He sent me countless videos, photos and more information than I could have ever imagined on this car. I am really happy with my car and will be happy to recommend them in the future.

If youre considering bidding on an auction on Bring A Trailer from GMS, run away as fast as you can. Absolutely the worst buying experience Ive ever had in my entire life. Awful communication, unfinished and unsafe work, questionable business practices, and absolutely no remorse for intentionally misrepresenting a car to a sight-unseen buyer.I won an auction for 2000 BMW 540i wagon on Bring A Trailer that GMS was selling. As a part of the auction, additional work was going be performed to make sure the car was mechanically sound - which seemed like a great bonus. GMS seemed to know their stuff about wagons so I assumed I could buy with confidence, but I could not have been more wrong. Turns out I was not buying a car from GMS, I was actually purchasing from the Autobarn dealership group. As issues started to crop up, it was always somebody else’s problem.Initially Jason said the car would be ready in one week. One week turned into two months, with multiple instances of no response at all for five consecutive days. I received no additional pictures that I requested or any of the documentation of work that was promised as a part of the auction. When they finally told me the car was ready, I sent a transport to pick it up and GMS/Autobarn turned them away saying I was at fault for telling them to pick the car up when it wasn’t ready. When I finally got the car, it wasn’t even road worthy. The list of mechanical and cosmetic issues were staggering. The rear suspension was blown out causing the tires to hit the fenders, the engine was missing so badly the car couldn’t accelerate at speed, coolant leaked, fuel leaked, oil leaked, power steering fluid leaked, several error lights on the dash, broken and missing interior trim everywhere, loose and missing bolts, and on and on. The poor level of work in this car is something I wouldn’t even expect at a Jiffy Lube, much less a shop that claims to be experts. After getting the car road worthy, I made a horrifying discovery that the rear brakes weren’t even torqued and one of the calipers nearly fell off the car which could have caused total brake failure. None of these things were even remotely disclosed or pictured in the auction. I asked on several occasions for additional pictures and clarification to avoid surprises. It turns out I got nothing but surprises. When I brought the issues up to Richard (the owner of Autobarn) and Jason, I was met with hostility and was called a liar who didn’t understand how auctions worked. I attempted to work with BaT and GMS to reach some kind of resolution since I immediately had to invest thousands into this car to make it roadworthy. GMS and Autobarn Evanston was in no way interested in doing anything to make the situation right. I have been nothing but patient and professional with these people and received quite the opposite in return. I gave them nearly 3 months since the end of the auction to do anything indicating good will at rectifying my issues and it’s abundantly clear they don’t care. Absolutely stay away at all costs.

My experience mirrors Mario’s and is in the same time frame. Like Mario, I’m an experienced enthusiast who has a long background in automotive maintenance and repair.I’m disappointed to see GMS still in business at the close of 2018, as I was led to believe he would no longer be allowed to mislead people as he does. I dealt exclusively with Jason from October 2017 through July 2018. He is charismatic and easy going. I wanted him to do work on a 2008 BMW, exactly the cars I saw in his shop on Greenwood St in Evanston. I knew he was moving and kept getting excuses on why he couldn’t start the work. Eventually he did take the car at Richard Fisher’s operation, Autobarn. But for a month nothing was happening. Then I saw the car on a lift in a Fiat bay. In late June the car was to be picked up, but had a horrendous vibration that had not been there. I later learned that Jason had told the Fiat mechanics, who were young guys not knowing what they were doing on a BMW, to forcibly install aftermarket downpipes that did not fit. After another month trying to sort it out at the Fiat shop (GMS no longer had any staff beyond Jason), I took the car to a BMW dealership who corrected the issues the Fiat shop had created but wouldn’t touch the ill fitting down pipe. A third shop finally put the car back to operating condition - SIX months after I had delivered it to Jason Saini. In the end, Autobarn stepped up to cover much of the monetary damage, but it was my hope that that had been the end of the road for GMS. Sadly not. However, if you are reading this, you don’t need to repeat the mistakes others have made in trusting their cars to Jason Saini.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, there were some amazing automobiles in and around the shop when I stopped by.

I don’t typically write a lot of reviews but I felt very strongly about letting other folks know what they may be getting themselves into. First of I’m a car enthusiast, BMW CCA member, and I work on my cars myself. Over two months ago I have purchased a 2006 BMW E61 (5 series wagon) from gmswagon, dealing exclusively with Jason. I met with him and test drove the vehicle one weekend while visiting Chicago. He came across as a nice guy. We discussed few things about the car, I was assured about extensive service and maintenance performed on the car, and we agreed on what was going to be done to the vehicle if I was to purchase it. Among few things, it was the rear wiper arm cover as well as service record that was allegedly performed on the car during the time the car was with gmswagons. The following weekend I made a 4 hour trip to pick up the car and trade in a my other BMW station wagon. Few items from our discussion week before were corrected, but the wiper cover was not there and Jason did not have the service record ready for me, he said “I will have it emailed to you by this evening”. I made trip back home OK and checked my email for service record. It was not there. Next morning my wife used the car for an airport trip. On the way back she got all kinds of AWD and DSC alerts on the dash and the rear wiper would not work. I emailed Jason explaining him what had happened, sharing with him the codes I pulled from the car, and asking about the service records again. For the next two months I have been messaging him often with some, but limited, responsiveness regarding the service record. He has been promising to send them next day, next evening, next week…I never got it. He indicated that he has been busy moving to new location right after he sold me the car. I can understand that, but it has been so darn long now, that it is just unacceptable. I also left a personal item behind in the car I traded in. I mentioned that to him, he said that they have the item and that they will send it along with the wiper cover. As I said, it’s been over two months, communication from Jason had dropped entirely and I still don’t have the service record, my personal item or the wiper cover. I’m very disappointed in the unprofessional actions on Jason’s side. Going with a specialty station wagon outfit I was hoping for a true car enthusiast experience but unfortunately I got very disappointed. With a right conscious I could not recommend Jason’s services to my friends. As they say, enter at your own risk. The only reason why I did give two stars is that they gave me fair amount for my trade in. It’s now for sale on their website. Ask Jason for the service records from the previous owner, I gave him records of all the services I have performed on the car. What an irony…

I recently bought a hard to find wagon here... It was a great experience.First, its a cool little specialty dealer that has the resources of its larger parent dealer.I dont normally write reviews, but they went out of their way to satisfy me as a customer, even after they had collected my money. They did what was right, and it cost them money and effort to do so.There was a slight issue with the car during my test drive. It was thought to be corrected, but came back after I got the car home.Jason at GMS met me after business hours to trade my car for a loaner at a site halfway between me and Evanston. They fixed the problem, after going through many possible causes for it. Then Jason met me again on a Friday night halfway between he and I to save me from the nightmare of driving through Chicago during business hours.I thoroughly recommend Greenwood Motorsports for car buying and servicing (great alternative to pricy Euro dealer service departments).
